There are estimated to be over 55 million kangaroos in Australia and of these only about 3.5 million are harvested every year. Kangaroos are one of the most populated wild animals in the world. Kangaroo skins are harvested sustainably and there will never be a threat to the species due to the large areas of National Parks and Reserves that act as a safety refuge for kangaroos.

The four species of Kangaroo that are commercially harvested have very large populations. None of these four species are threatened or endangered. The Red Kangaroo, Eastern grey Kangaroo and Western grey Kangaroo are the most abundant species and make up over 90 per cent of the commercial harvest. Their combined population size has fluctuated between 15 and 50 million animals over the past 25 years in the harvested areas, depending on seasonal conditions. Wild kangaroos are shot for meat, sport, and to protect grazing land for sheep and cattle. Although there is some controversy, harvesting kangaroos for meat has many environmental and health benefits over sheep or cows grazed for meat.

KANGAROO LEATHER is one of the strongest light weight leathers available, yet the reasons for this strength are not widely appreciated. Similarly when split into thinner substances Kangaroo retains considerably more of the original tensile strength of the un-split leather than does calf. When split to 20% of original thickness Kangaroo retains between 30 to 60% of the tensile strength of the un-split hide. Calf on the other hand split to 20% of original thickness retains only 1-4% of original strength.

Kangaroo is one of the healthiest red meats there is. With fat levels of less than 2%, meat doesn't come any leaner. It also has a delightful flavor.
